INDIAN ISLAND—Sheldon L. Snell, 53, passed away unexpectedly October 25, 2024 at NL EMMC. He was born in Bangor, the son of Gary Snell and Theresa Bartlett. In his early years, Sheldon and his family moved to Washington state returning when he was eight years old and growing up on Indian island. Sheldon had an affinity for cats and dogs. He would constantly stop what he was doing to pet or talk to the animals. He was thoughtful and caring for people. For a while, he used to do landscaping until he became disabled. He enjoyed volunteering at the soup kitchen in Belfast, and around Christmas time he would go out to “lobby” people to buy gifts to give away with the Christmas dinners.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Nicolas Sapiel and Mary Arlene Ranco; mother, Theresa Bartlett; father, Gary Snell; brother, Scott Sapiel, Shawn Snell, and sister Shannon Snell.

He survived my brother, Steven Snell; nieces, Tasheena Sapiel, Felicia Snell, Sarah Snell; Auntie, Sue Sapiel; his cat, Sheeba and special friends, Greg Mathieson, Cynthia Taylor, Debbie Yarmel, and many cousins and other close friends.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5-8PM at Penobscot Nation Sockalexis Arena,12 Wabanaki Way, Indian Island, ME 04468. He will be laid to rest at 1PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Lucy Poolaw cemetery.
