Olive Taylor Obituary (1921 - 2013)

OLD TOWN - Olive (Thompson) Taylor, 92, died peacefully Sept. 14, 2013, at an Orono health care facility. She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Milford, a daughter of Walter and Clara (Mosher) Thompson. Throughout the years, Olive and her beloved husband, Norman, spent many summers at the camp he built on Beech Hill Pond. They were known by their little yellow boat and all the togue they caught. They were happiest when they were at camp. She was a great cook and her grandchildren fondly remember hot muffins at camp in the morning. Olive was a communicant at Holy Family Parish, Old Town. She is survived by children, Eileen St. Louis of Old Town, Shirley Austin and husband, Ron, of Old Town, Carol Cronkite and husband, Sam, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Charles Taylor and wife, Kathy, of West Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Kathy Rivers and husband, Archie, Anne Mosher and husband, Dave, Ronald Austin and wife, Susan, John Austin, Alan Austin, Joanna Houde and husband, Randy, Sam Cronkite and wife, Megan, Susan Cronkite, Jeanne Gissel and husband, Brett, Matthew Taylor and wife, Abby, and Patricia Barnes and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Laura, Thomas, Andrew, Jack, Isaac, Emily, Jacob, Benjamin, Nathan, Nicholas, Zack and Grayson; and special nephew, Reed Thompson. Olive was predeceased by Norman, her husband of 72 years on Oct. 9, 2012; a sister, Evelyn Cosseboom; five brothers, Merton Thompson, Clarence Thompson, Sherman Thompson, Virgil Thompson, and Bill Thompson; and son-in-law, Thomas St. Louis. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ritter, the Old Town Ambulance Service, and the entire staff at Orono Commons for their wonderful compassionate care given to Olive. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Private burial will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following the Mass, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
