Lakeland, Florida - Nancy Elizabeth Kealiher, born March 30, 1937, in West Old Town, Maine, passed away peacefully in Florida on May 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Nancy was the daughter of Charles and Ida Young Tibbetts and was born at home in the close-knit community of West Old Town.
She dedicated 38 years of her professional life to the University, contributing significantly to its community. Later, she served as a personal care assistant, offering compassionate support to individuals and residents in nursing homes. Nancy enjoyed many years of traveling, camping, doting on grandchildren, and baking for family and friends.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Charles Tibbetts; her husband, Kenneth Kealiher; her brother, Chandler Tibbetts; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Kealiher; a grandson, Matthew Spencer; and a son-in-law, Eric Peters. She is survived by her sister, Ann Philips; her brother, Phillip Tibbetts (Gale); her five children: Kenneth Jr. (Christine), Carmen Peters, Naomi Kealiher Spencer, Jeffrey (Jeanne), and Rebecca McComas (Roger); eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In 2021, Nancy made Florida her permanent home, where she continued to enjoy life's simple pleasures. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will be cherished by all who knew her.
Her family would like to invite extended family, friends, and neighbors to join them for a tribute to her life on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street, Old Town, ME. Visitation with family will be from 1:15 to 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. Burial of Nancy's ashes will follow immediately at Evergreen Cemetery in Milo, ME.
