OLD TOWN - Mamie T. Seymour, 99, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. She was born Aug. 13, 1913, in Orono, daughter of Ernest J. and Lillian M. (St. Peter) Nadeau.

Mamie was very active in her community. She was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Family. She was a longtime volunteer at Holy Family Thrift Shop up until she was 90 years old. She was a member of Ladies of St. Ann, Sacred Heart League, as well as Old Town Senior Citizens. Mamie was always willing to help people in many ways, whether it was with sewing, cleaning or looking out for friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul R. E. Seymour; a daughter, Gayle; and siblings, Elsie Cota, Freeman, Albert, Leslie, Norman and Clarence Nadeau. She is survived by her children, Margaret Tenney and husband, Frank, of Veazie, Romain Seymour and wife, Dottie, of Brewer and Eugene Seymour and wife, Debbie, of Milford; brothers and sisters, Pauline Butler of Orono, Bertha Henderson of Connecticut, Lawrence Nadeau of Orono and Bernice Moreau of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Jane Dossier and husband, Jeff, Carl Tenney and wife, Kathy, Janet Martell and husband, Rusty, Alan Tenney and wife, Traci, Janice Lovell and husband, Scott, Jeffrey Seymour and wife, Holly, Scott Seymour and wife, Robin, and Paul Seymour and wife, Melanie; 18 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. The family expresses sincere thanks to the staff at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care given to Mamie during her stay.

A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Holy Family Church, Main Street, Old Town, with a reception afterward across the street at Birmingham Funeral Home. A committal will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mamie's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice or Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund, 103 Texas Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
