Leonardean J Burr Obituary (1921 - 2014)

OLD TOWN - Leonardean J. Burr, 93, died October 10, 2014 at a Bangor Health care facility. She was born Jan 19, 1921 in Old Town, a daughter of Archie and Edna (Page) Lozier.Affectionately known to most as "Deanie" or "Dee", she will be remembered for her optimistic attitude and always ready smile. She married Alfred M. Burr in 1938, and they both worked at Bath Iron Works during WWII. They moved to Old Town in the Early 1940s and settled in a house on So. Brunswick St, where they lived the rest of their lives. Alfred worked for Bangor Hydro Electric, while she worked at the University of Maine at Hilltop and Wells Commons for over 30 years. Following retirement, she found a love a love for antiques, Flea Markets, and yard sales. She had booths in many local antique shops, but was in the Big Chicken Barn Books and Antiques for over 20 years. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Maine Merrie Red Hatters of Old Town.She is survived by two sons, Robert M Burr and his wife, Hannelore of West Palm, FL, James A. Burr and his wife, Diane of Old Town and a daughter, Catherine L. Lauhon of Old Town; seven grandchildren, Andrew M. Burr, Renee Parks, Allen M. Burr, Vicki Pomfret, Todd Lauhon, Kirk Lauhon, Chad Lauhon; nine great-grandchildren, Britani Kramer, Brittany Pomfret, LCPL Robert W. Pomfret III, USMC, Jeffrey Lauhon, Kyle Lauhon, Megan Burr, Juliana Parks, Sean Parks, Gabrielle Lauhon; several nieces and nephews; close friends, Dan and Helga Cross and Stan and Andrea Lucien. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 1968; brother and sister-in-law, George and Phyllis Lozier, brother-in-law, Maurice Burr, sister-in-law, Lois Burr, and a niece, Deborah Campbell.A heartfelt thank you to Healing Spirit Healthcare, Old Town, and Westgate Manor, Bangor, for all the wonderful and compassionate care given.Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
