Bradley and Old Town – David Louis Shorette, 65, died November 3, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born in Bradley on April 14, 1945 the son of Harold C. and Evelyn (English) Shorette. David grew up in Bradley and graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in 1964. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the Air National Guard, and worked at the mill in Old Town for 29 years before his retirement in 2006. David was an active member of the community; he was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Church in Bradley, he was Grand Knight of the Old Town Knights of Columbus Council 2537 and he was also the Past Faithful Navigator 4th Degree, assembly 0364. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, and enjoyed planning trips to Portland to watch the Sea Dogs play. David was a great organizer and always generous with his time. David is survived by his loving wife Kathy, and her 4 children, Jennifer Emerson and her significant other Matt, Jason Shepard, Jeremy Shepard, and Jeff Shepard; 3 grandchildren, Samatha, Jacob, and Aidan; 2 brothers, Joel Shorette and his wife Ruth Ann and Dale Shorette and his wife Lynn, 1 sister, Priscilla Applegate and her husband Jim; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his great nephew Eric. Family and friends are invited to call from 5-8pm, Friday, Nov. 5, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a prayer service will be led by the Knights of Columbus at 7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am, Saturday, Nov. 6, at St. Ann’s Church in Bradley. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bradley. Afterwards, all are invited to a light luncheon at the Parish Hall at Holy Family Church in Old Town. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s honor may be made to the Social Justice and Peace Commission at Resurrection Parish, 429 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468.
